Ethan’s Transition

Several weeks ago, we bought a toddler bed for Ethan so that we could use the crib for our baby girl. We set up the bed in Ethan’s room and also left the crib in his room, thinking we’d have a couple months for him to make the transition from one to the other.

However, Ethan has been in no hurry to make the transition on his own. The “car bed,” as he calls it, was more of a play area than a place to sleep.

But with our trip to Korea drawing closer, we decided to speed up the process yesterday by taking down the crib (we’ll wait as long as we can to re-install it in the baby’s room). Ethan “helped” to take the crib down, and had fun in the process. But when it came time to go to bed, he missed the crib. More than once, he said, “Daddy took it … why?”

Actually, Ethan went to sleep fairly quickly in his new bed, though. And he seemed to *really* like the fact that he could get up on his own in the morning (which is why *I* wasn’t in a hurry for him to make the transition)! šŸ™‚

We’re sure this is only one small part of Ethan’s transition that will, no doubt, intensify in the weeks to come!
