The Light

We are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The deadline for our work for the Board of Ordained Ministry is due 3 weeks from today (January 13, 2011) and we are beginning to see light!

We’ve been especially busy in recent weeks/months, which at least, partly explains the lack of posts on the blog. While we’ll be working on papers/projects up until the deadline, we appear to be on track to complete it all (barring setbacks).

I remember, when I began seminary a number of years ago, a student who was nearing the end of his time in the program, encouraged me, saying, “Somehow it always gets done.” Thankfully, and amazingly, at times, that’s always been true throughout my/our journey — M.Div., D.Min., ordination process, etc. It’s never been easy, or pretty, but up until now, it’s always come together … usually at the last minute.

After we submit our work for the Board of Ordained Ministry, we’ll have interviews (based on our submitted work) in mid-March. Other, less difficult requirements include: 4-day trip to New York City for a seminar at the General Board of Global Ministries, a one-day Training Day, and one final overnight retreat with the bishop. Once we complete all of that, with the Board’s approval, and the approval of clergy session at annual conference, we anticipate ordination June 11, 2011.

Thanks be to God!
